The tremendous 'hit' from a former NBA star to James Harden: "Paul George defends"

The Philadelphia 76ers have made a statement in the 2024 NBA offseason by acquiring Paul George, forming a new "Big 3" with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. With this addition, the Sixers position themselves as one of the most feared teams in the league, especially in the Eastern Conference, where they aim to dethrone the current champions, the Boston Celtics.

Philadelphia signed George to a 4-year contract worth a total of 212 million dollars, banking on his ability to elevate the team to the next level. Since 2001, the Sixers have not been able to get past the second round of the playoffs, and they hope George will be the player to help break that barrier. With his scoring ability in isolation and off the ball, coupled with his defensive prowess, George could be the missing piece to achieving success.

Ratliff's Words

Former Sixers All-Star, Theo Ratliff, shared his thoughts on George's arrival during an appearance on the Sirius XM NBA show. "One thing that Paul George does and James Harden didn't do is play defense. With the dynamic of having a scorer who has been an All-Star for a long time, and who also knows how to defer to other All-Stars, I think it's a great acquisition," Ratliff stated. "He's not the type of player who always needs the ball in his hands. He's a guy who does the grunt work as well as being able to score."
