The start of the 2024/25 season for the NBA will not be ideal for the New Orleans Pelicans who will be without one of their best players and defenders: Trey Murphy III.

The Pelicans' player will be out for at least 3 weeks due to a hamstring strain. An MRI done last Thursday, October 3rd, confirmed the injury, which occurred during a practice session on Wednesday.

Last season, Trey Murphy III played 57 games with NOLA, averaging 14.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 29.7 minutes.

Murphy III is eligible for a contract extension this season after his rookie contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. If not, he will become a restricted free agent in the summer of 2025.
