We tell you about the Indiana Pacers' plan with Tyrese Haliburton after his serious injury

Bad luck struck the star of the Indianapolis by rupturing the Achilles in the seventh game of the NBA Finals

The Indiana Pacers confirmed on Monday that Tyrese Haliburton will not play any games in the 2025-26 season. They do not want to take any risks after his Achilles tendon injury during the NBA Finals, so they will presumably take a transition year before coming back to action.

"The surgery went well, it was in a slightly higher area with better blood circulation for the recovery process. But he won't play next year. We won't risk anything now, so don't get your hopes up that he will return," explained the team's operations president, Kevin Pritchard.

The injury occurred during the seventh game of the NBA Finals last month, in which the Oklahoma City Thunder secured their first title by defeating the Pacers. Indiana was outscored 56-43 in the second half after Haliburton's exit, and the Thunder sealed the victory 103-91.

The point guard, a two-time All-Star, scored nine points with three three-pointers before leaving the court. Throughout the Finals, he averaged 14 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.6 rebounds.

Haliburton had already strained his calf in the fifth game. Despite being listed as doubtful, he chose to play both the sixth and seventh games, with the tendon tear occurring in the latter.

Last month, the player posted on social media that he had no regrets playing through discomfort, stating he would do it "over and over" for the team and the city.

"The mentality he displayed tells you what kind of person he is," noted Pritchard. "However, if you ask me if I would let him do it again, I tell you no. If I had known he would get injured, I would have sacrificed that game because I value him too much and wish for him to have an extraordinary career."
