NBA Rumors: Milwaukee Bucks seeks to strengthen the team to... help Giannis Antetokounmpo or replace him?

The Milwaukee Bucks are going through a delicate moment, caught in a sort of sporting limbo. Giannis Antetokounmpo seems to have one foot in and one foot out of the project, while the team continues to plummet in the Eastern Conference standings. With a record of 11-17, the Bucks are in the eleventh position and are completely out of even the play-in positions.

Despite this scenario, in Milwaukee, they do not consider the season lost or give up on retaining their star. According to insider Chris Haynes, the franchise is determined to make moves in the trade market to find a player capable of changing the team's direction.

"The Milwaukee Bucks are desperately pursuing the possibility of incorporating a player who can make a difference in the market," explained Haynes. "Sources have informed me that they are scouring the market and one of the names I have identified is that of Zach LaVine of the Sacramento Kings. He is a player they have thoroughly studied... someone on their radar."

Haynes himself adds that Antetokounmpo has increased the pressure on the franchise for significant moves. "Giannis has pushed the Bucks to make trades," he stated. "Milwaukee is a buyer and is trying to find a way to bring in a game-changing player." This context explains why LaVine's name has gained strength in the team's offices.

Zach LaVine, a controversial profile

The potential investment in LaVine generates, at the very least, debate. Throughout his career, no one has questioned his ability to score, but rather the real impact of his game on the collective success of teams. In fact, the general manager of the Kings, Scott Perry, expressed harshly about the shooting guard a couple of years ago:

"There is no doubt that Zach LaVine can score. Does he impact winning? Zach LaVine has played in only one playoff series in nine years. He has participated in a total of four playoff games. We are talking about 40, 43, 46, and 49 million dollars for a player who, so far, has not impacted winning at the level that his salary indicates."

Interestingly, just 14 months after those statements, Perry himself decided to trade for LaVine in the last trade deadline. Now, according to reports, the shooting guard has become the player the Kings are most interested in parting ways with. Yet, in Milwaukee, with Doc Rivers at the helm, he is valued as a potential "difference-maker."

If the Bucks allow Antetokounmpo to have a decisive role in front office decisions, they should perhaps proceed with caution. The experience of other franchises that have given such power to their stars, as was the case with LeBron James' stint as a GM in Los Angeles, serves as a rather unsettling precedent. Milwaukee is seeking an urgent solution, but the question remains: Is Zach LaVine truly the savior they need?
