NBA Rumors: Discover what the Memphis Grizzlies are asking for Ja Morant

The Milwaukee Bucks are willing to give it another shot. The Wisconsin franchise continues to search for the right formula to surround Giannis Antetokounmpo with a competitive roster, and in that process, they have set their sights on one of the big names available in the market: Ja Morant. The guard has become a trade candidate after the Memphis Grizzlies have run out of patience with his situation.

According to insider Michael Scotto from HoopsHype, the Grizzlies' request to the Bucks is clear and involves two key pieces. Firstly, Ryan Rollins, one of the standout players this season in Milwaukee and a strong contender for the Most Improved Player award. Secondly, a first-round draft pick in 2031 or 2032 owned by the Bucks.

Rollins, 23, has made a spectacular leap this season. He has increased his scoring by ten points per game to reach 16.2, and he is also posting career highs by far in both rebounds (4.6) and assists (5.5). In a hypothetical deal, he would be the natural replacement for Morant in Memphis.

In order for the trade to work financially, Milwaukee may also need to include Kyle Kuzma and Bobby Portis. Meanwhile, the franchise is exploring the market to assess the real value of both players in potential trades.

Stockpiling ammunition for Giannis?

But not everything revolves around Morant. In parallel, there is a growing trend in the NBA that believes Antetokounmpo could eventually leave Milwaukee. For that reason, several teams are choosing not to let go of their main assets now, with the intention of keeping them for a potential bid for the Greek's signing.

This was explained by Zach Lowe, another great analyst of the league: “Hawks, Warriors, Lakers, Heat, maybe the Knicks... there are teams wondering if they should retain everything and wait for Giannis to become available, whether now or in the summer.”

Lowe added that the entire league is watching closely the Bucks' evolution. If the team continues to fall in the standings and fails to even reach the ninth or tenth place in the East, the big question is whether Antetokounmpo will decide to make a move now, without waiting for the summer.

The scenario is still open. Milwaukee must decide whether to double down on trying to bring in Ja Morant or, on the contrary, whether it's time to press the button and face the end of the Giannis era. Meanwhile, the NBA is watching every step carefully.
