NBA Rumors: The 3 Teams Giannis Antetokounmpo Wants to Go to

After Giannis Antetokounmpo publicly announced his intention to leave the Milwaukee Bucks, more details about his immediate future are starting to emerge. According to a new report from the Dallas Hoops Journal, the Greek player already has clear preferences and has identified three specific franchises as desired destinations.

According to the information by Ashish Mathur, the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, and Toronto Raptors are the top three teams on Antetokounmpo's list for a potential trade. These mentioned franchises are reportedly working on building a strong offer to entice Milwaukee. The report itself states that the two-time MVP is ready to close his chapter with the Bucks and is keen on being traded to one of these three organizations.

In the case of the Knicks, this would not be the first time Antetokounmpo has singled out New York as a destination. Last summer, he already requested to be traded there, although the New York franchise failed to put together a convincing package for the Bucks. Now, according to Mathur, the Knicks are exploring an alternative route.

The franchise is aware of Giannis's desire and has had discussions with the Portland Trail Blazers for a potential trade involving Jrue Holiday. Antetokounmpo and Holiday were former teammates in Milwaukee and maintain a close personal relationship. The scenario being considered would include sending Mikal Bridges to Portland to acquire Holiday and then using Karl-Anthony Towns as the main piece in a trade with Milwaukee for Giannis. From there, the Bucks might move Towns again to gather more assets.

Miami and the Connection with Bam Adebayo

In Miami, the operation also holds a strong personal component. Giannis has expressed interest multiple times in playing alongside Bam Adebayo, with whom he shares a representative. This connection strengthens the Heat's position as one of the player's preferred destinations.

On the other hand, the Toronto Raptors have long been dreaming of adding Antetokounmpo to their team. According to the report, the Canadian franchise is willing to practically negotiate its entire roster to achieve this, with only two exceptions: Scottie Barnes and Brandon Ingram, considered untouchables in any deal for the Greek.

In terms of sports performance, Antetokounmpo is having another high-level season, averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game. However, injuries have once again marked his season: he has only played 30 games and is currently expected to be sidelined for about six weeks due to a calf issue.

Nevertheless, this setback does not seem to hinder the interest of the franchises or Giannis's determination to start a new chapter away from Milwaukee.
