A potential return to Cleveland would have a strong symbolic component. It was his hometown team, where he played for eleven seasons spread across two stints, reached five NBA Finals, and won the franchise's only championship in 2016. On the other hand, Los Angeles has been his home for the past eight years. With the Lakers, he won the 2020 title and became the team's main reference, at least until the arrival last year of Luka Dončić, who shifted the project's focus.

Last year or retirement?

At 41 years old and after 23 seasons in the league, it remains to be seen if James considers it time to end his career or if he decides to play one more season, possibly at 42, as a farewell with the team where it all began or with the last one where he was a champion.
