NBA Rumors: Giannis Antetokounmpo is being mentioned for the Blazers

The Milwaukee Bucks have been trying for years to build a project worthy of Giannis Antetokounmpo, even going as far as bringing in a partner of his liking like Damian Lillard. However, that partnership didn't quite work out, and the guard returned to the Portland Trail Blazers. Now, a new possibility is starting to take shape: reuniting both stars, but this time in the northwest of the country.

According to Bill Oram, the Trail Blazers would be willing to attempt the signing of Antetokounmpo as long as the player agrees to sign a contract extension. Nevertheless, the franchise would not limit its strategy solely to that option. The previous connection between Giannis and Lillard is a factor to take into consideration, particularly in a scenario where Milwaukee could end up opening the door to a trade.

Portland has taken steps forward and once again emerges as a competitive team in the Western Conference. Currently, they are in the first round of the playoffs against the San Antonio Spurs, with the series tied 1-1. Although Lillard hasn't played this season due to an Achilles tendon rupture suffered approximately a year ago, his return is expected for the upcoming season, or even sooner if the team advances in the postseason.

As Oram points out, since Lillard renewed his commitment to Portland, several players have stepped up: Deni Avdija has reached All-Star level, Donovan Clingan has established himself as one of the most promising young centers in the league, and Scoot Henderson has evolved into a key defensive player with great shooting efficiency.
