NBA Rumors: The Kings go after a crucial center from the Knicks
According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post, Sacramento wants to take Mitchell Robinson away from NY in Free Agency
The future of Mitchell Robinson in the New York Knicks is still uncertain. Although the New York franchise wants to renew the center, salary limitations could seriously hinder his continuity. Robinson will be an unrestricted free agent, and the economic scenario of the Knicks threatens to force the organization to make important decisions within the roster.
If New York Knicks fails to close the renewal of the center, Sacramento Kings emerges as one of the teams paying attention to the situation.
The current general manager of the Kings, Scott Perry, was already part of the Knicks' front office when Robinson was selected in the draft. Since then, Perry has maintained a very positive assessment of the player.
The salary situation of the Sacramento Kings is not particularly comfortable either. The Californian franchise is also near the luxury tax, although there is a possibility to reorganize contracts and generate enough space to make an offer for Robinson.
More competition for the center
If he enters the market, Robinson could attract interest from several teams in need of interior presence.
Among the franchises expected to reinforce the center position this summer are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls.
The evolution of negotiations between Robinson and the New York Knicks will greatly influence the interior market during free agency.
