The new rule that the NBA will test this summer

The NBA will experiment with a new rule in the Summer League: instead of shooting one, two, or three free throws, players will have a single attempt worth the corresponding amount of points. The rule will not apply in the final two minutes or in overtime. This system has been in use since 2019 in the G League and will be tested in the summer tournaments in Sacramento, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas.
