Jonas Valančiūnas returns to Europe, despite the interest of the New York Knicks

Jonas Valančiūnas puts an end to his NBA stage. The Lithuanian center, who had been linked to the New York Knicks, will continue his career at Žalgiris Kaunas.

The 34-year-old veteran became a free agent on July 8 when the Denver Nuggets waived him to save salary cap space. The franchise will only have to pay him 2 million dollars instead of the 10 million he was expected to receive next season.

Although his role has diminished, Valančiūnas remains a productive player. Last season, he averaged 8.7 points and 5.1 rebounds in just 13.4 minutes per game with Denver before deciding to return to European basketball.
