Although the Dallas Mavericks point guard is still recovering from the anterior cruciate ligament rupture that caused him to miss the entire 2025-26 season, the Timberwolves have emerged as a possible destination if the door is opened to his departure.

According to journalist Jake Weinbach, Minnesota could prepare an offer centered around Julius Randle, along with draft picks, with the aim of acquiring the veteran guard's services. The intention would be to add a seasoned star to share the spotlight with Anthony Edwards and strengthen the team's perimeter play.

Interest in Irving persists despite his lengthy absence

This is not the first time Irving's name has been linked to potential moves this summer. Previously, Marc Stein, from The Stein Line, reported that there was an expectation within the league that several teams would explore the possibility of trading for the player during this offseason.

This interest remains despite Irving not playing a single game in the 2025-26 season, as he was completing the rehabilitation for a serious knee injury suffered the previous season.
