An ex-NBA All-Star criticizes the Atlanta Hawks for not drafting Aday Mara

Aday Mara, number 12 in the NBA Draft 2026 chosen by OKC.

Aday Mara has started the NBA preseason with strong performances for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Spanish center, selected with the number 12 in the last draft, recorded 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists against the New Orleans Pelicans, and 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists against the Milwaukee Bucks. Additionally, he made all 15 of his field goal attempts in both games.

His early performances have drawn praise from Jeff Teague, an NBA champion with Milwaukee in 2021, who criticized the Atlanta Hawks for not selecting the Spaniard. “I can’t believe we didn’t pick him. Flemings is good, but he’s not what we need. We need this,” he stated on his podcast Club 520.
