NBA Rumors: The spectacular trade that would bring together Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic in the Denver Nuggets

The NBA could be facing one of the most impactful operations in recent years. A new rumor suggests the possibility of bringing together in Denver Nuggets the MVPs of five of the last seven seasons: Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The mere idea of pairing the three-time Serbian MVP with the two-time Greek MVP automatically makes the Nuggets one of the most formidable teams in the league. The big question, however, is whether there is any real possibility of it happening.

Signs around the Milwaukee Bucks increasingly point towards a possible departure of Antetokounmpo. Journalist Chris Mannix recently stated that a decision on the future of the Greek star could come very soon. "At some point in the next few months, Giannis will leave. Jimmy Haslam said in an interview that this is likely to be resolved before the Draft. So, we will probably have a solution before the end of June," the insider explained.

With that context on the table, Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report has proposed a major operation between Nuggets and Bucks. In the proposed scenario, Denver would acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kyle Kuzma, while Milwaukee would receive Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, a 2026 Draft first-round pick, a 2031 first-round pick exchange, and a 2026 second-round pick from Atlanta Hawks.

For the Bucks, the move would allow them to remain competitive immediately. Jamal Murray would arrive as a top scorer while Aaron Gordon would bring defense, physicality, and the ability to finish near the basket. Bailey also believes that the power forward would fit especially well alongside the outside shooting of Myles Turner.

Denver's Huge Sacrifice

From the Nuggets' perspective, parting ways with Aaron Gordon would be a very tough decision. Bailey acknowledges that losing "Mr. Nugget" would be hard for the franchise to accept. Beyond his stats, Denver would also lose essential aspects like his tactical intelligence, defensive versatility, and the bond he has built over the years alongside Nikola Jokic.

Nevertheless, the prospect of pairing Jokic and Antetokounmpo would be too tempting to ignore. Bailey highlights that Giannis's ability to attack the rim would force opposing defenses to collapse in the paint, creating space for Jokic to generate from the high post or perimeter.

At the same time, the Serbian's offensive threat from medium and long range would make it nearly impossible to double-team defenses on the Greek player near the basket. Their partnership could become one of the best duos in NBA history and turn every Nuggets game into a must-see spectacle.

Additionally, if Denver manages to re-sign Peyton Watson and finds a reliable point guard to replace Jamal Murray, the team could aim to compete directly with Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs for Western Conference dominance.
