NBA Rumors: The date when Doncic will decide whether to renew with the Lakers
According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Slovenian will avoid signing his extension on August 2 and will wait for a reason
The Los Angeles Lakers' top priority this NBA offseason is to re-sign Luka Doncic. However, the Los Angeles franchise will not be able to do so until August 2nd.
Starting from that date, the franchise and the player can begin negotiations for an extension, which unless a huge surprise, will be for the maximum salary. Despite that, the Lakers will have to wait a while to finalize the renewal with the Slovenian.
As reported by Brian Windhorst from NBA Rumors on ESPN, Doncic has decided to wait until mid-September to make a decision. The reason? The Eurobasket 2025.
"He will play with the Slovenian national team until mid-September and may not consider the issue until he returns to the United States at that time. Therefore, the wait could be long," said Windhorst.
Despite this news, Los Angeles Lakers fans are at ease. Before the start of the offseason, it was mentioned that Luka Doncic is fully committed to the purple and gold team.
